16-year-old Joanna has run away to France looking for freedom and independence. Arriving in Paris, she is looking forward to enjoying good food and experiencing the French culture. When she loses her money, her passport, and her bag, however, she finds herself alone and hungry in a chaotic and intimidating city. But a chance encounter with the enigmatic Michel, and his temperamental cat, Madame de Pompadour, leads her to unexpected adventures and the chance to look at life from a different angle.




Will Michel help Joanna to find her feet? And will Joanna learn how this kind, educated man ended up living on the streets?
