Rescue Robot: a First Step Qasim Shahid

A rescue robot is designed for the purpose of aiding rescue workers. This particular rescue robot has the capability of moving through rough terrain with the help of treads acquiring the ability even to climb the stairs. The other task that it can perform is that it will detect fire and will extinguish it. Any two disasters of the same type do not have damages that are alike and, in the same disaster, no two regions are likely to exhibit similar damage characteristics. Thus, rescue robotic devices should be adaptable, robust, and predictive in control when facing ever changing scenarios. Furthermore it can be used as a platform for carrying out various other tasks like fire extinguishing, mine detection or another most recent use for defusing IED?s (Improvised Explosive Devices). With the help of this robot the position of a person under rubble can also be determined without compromising the safety of the rescuer. Our idea is to incorporate as best we can the techniques used by rescuers into our robot so that may demonstrate its usage in any high risk area involving human morbidity thus providing us with a combination of man and machine coupled with safety.
