Off-campus Accommodation: Challenges and Experiences of Uz Students Eunice Mlambo

Accommodation is very crucial to students and their academic performance. Off-campus accommodation, in particular, as highlighted in this research has its strengths and weaknesses. However from the interviews and observations undertaken in this research, for UZ students, it has more of disadvantages than expected results. Students are experiencing hard times in off-campus accommodation. They are facing many challenges which among them are poor sanitary conditions, poor security and safety measures, transportation challenges, financial challenges and restrictions which may not allow them to study. As they face these challenges they devise different strategies to cope with these challenges. Most of these strategies are not effective. This books explores in these areas as mentioned above.
