Could cannabinoids be antidepressant? chronic administration of the phytocannabinoids (THC, CBD) as well as rimonabant had no antidepressant-like effect in normal rats. However, chronic administration of THC and rimonabant had antidepressant-like effects in the OB-model of depression. Given the emergence of anxiety and depression in patients treated with rimonabant, this opens a debate about the predictive validity of animal models for drug effects in humans
