Stella E. Igun
This is a survey intended to determine by gender and working experience, the utilization, perceived benefits and extent of satisfaction with network technologies among professional librarians in university libraries in South-South Region of Nigeria. A descriptive survey method was adopted to gather information from the entire population of librarians working in thirteen university libraries. One hundred and sixty-nine (169) properly filled questionnaire were received from librarians working in the thirteen university libraries. These 169 respondents formed the population and sample of this study. Sixteen research questions were answered using frequency counts and simple percentages. Fourteen null hypotheses were formulated and Z-test was used to test them. Findings revealed that majority of librarians have network technologies in all the sections of their libraries except Bindery Section. Male librarians use network technologies for library operations more than their female counterpart, librarians with less years of working experience explore more means of acquiring network technology knowledge and skills more than librarians with longer years of working experience.
