The oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a tropical monoecious tree with male and female inflorescence, hermaphrodite developed in the axil of the leaves. Palm oil is largely used in various food products, such as margarines, shortenings, cooking oils and confectionery fats.
