It was Tuesday, 6th September 2016.



As I waited to meet the doctor, I took a silent deep breath. I tried to be calm.

'We have your biopsy results and I'm afraid it's not good news. You have Squamous cell carcinoma.'

The news hit me like a sledgehammer.

I had cancer.



Tongue Cancer and I was written to guide those who find themselves faced with a conversation similar to the one above. Though it is Dev's own personal journey, he has documented each part in detail, in the hopes that it will empower others to face and overcome the same challenges he faced, with information they may not find elsewhere.



This book captures key events and treatments, from diagnosis to recovery and life after cancer. Tongue Cancer and I provides practical recommendations, key learnings and action points to overcome the hurdles, and tips on how to keep strong, resilient, motivated and empowered.



Tongue Cancer and I was written to inspire and give hope to those who have recently been diagnosed, are having treatments, or are in post recovery. It is also for the family and friends of anyone with tongue cancer, to help them better understand and support them. For all other readers, there are some great learnings and insights that may help to realise what is really important in life.
