Standing on a wharf in Port St. William, a small outport in Newfoundland, Uncle John and young Johnnie share stories from their lives as they watch the sun rise out of the ocean every Saturday morning. Uncle John, who is 86 years old when the story begins, tells tales about his encounters with women he loved throughout his life. Young Johnnie, 16 when the story begins, tells stories of his teenage and early adult life.
