With her very sharp sense of humor, the author shares her experiences growing up in a typical Afrikaner Christian home during the Apartheid years in South Africa. Then, against all convention, she marries a "coloured" man, long before it became acceptable.




Together, the couple starts and leads Shofar Christian Church for twenty years when calamity strikes and she finds herself in "the valley of the shadow of death" as described in Psalm 23. She shares the reality that obedience to God often leads to times of deep suffering. However, she highlights the amazing benefits of living through dark times and its ultimate birthing one into a life of enhanced joy and freedom.
