When I Can't Be There is written from the perspective of the adult that is away from home. When we travel for work, our families may think "out of sight, out of mind". It's to help family members understand being away from home for work is a necessity, and even though we don't always remember to say it, to tell those we leave behind that we think about them and miss them while we're away. This book is an extra touchstone to remind your family they are loved and you can't wait to be home with them again. At the end of the book are a couple of pages for a Special Memory, which can be filled out by the giver or the receiver - whomever gets there first!: -)
