Major Ricky Jackson, an F-16 pilot in the Air Force National Guard, maintains a civilian life working for Bain Capital in Boston, Massachusetts. After suffering wounds from a suicide attack in Afghanistan, he returns home to the tragic loss of his wife and child. With the help of his family and friends, he begins a journey of healing and acceptance, one that crosses paths with a beautiful Irish woman. Samantha O'Dwyer has also dealt with the loss of a loved one. A miscarriage right out of nursing school has put into question whether she can ever have children. The thought of never having a child destroys her self-worth. The inability to have meaningful relationships is the sad consequence until one day she meets her new neighbor, Ricky.
