Negative self-talk was my most toxic behavior. I truly wanted to be more positive but I was prone to taking things too personally and even quicker to feed myself negative thoughts. I really wanted to get it together but being petty was; well easy. As I questioned how I could be more in control of my feelings I started to understand that nothing was ever going to be exactly perfect. I also realized that everyone was struggling with one thing or another. In fact the people who were living their best lives, appeared to be doing so because they looked at things differently. That's when I realized that I had to change my perspective. To be ever vigilant in this endeavor I began to write a positive word on my coffee cup each morning. Well everyday didn't suddenly become magical but my one positive word served as a reminder to be grateful. It was a small step, but it was one in the right direction!It has been four years since I wrote that first word on my styrofoam coffee cup, and as I changed the way I looked at things, the things I valued began to change. Living, learning growing is a collection of some of these words and the stories that inspired them. I hope that these simple truths inspire you to improve your perspective.
