Training to fight creatures bent on destroying humankind is not as thrilling as 17-year-old Shawna expected it to be, but when a series of high profile assassinations occur against members of her order, she is forced to go into action alongside her teacher and guardian, Decker. This time they not alone and are joined by new team members. Shawna and her team must cross the globe in order to stop this rising threat. However, the more time she spends with her team the less she trusts them. Old enemies resurface and new threats arise as Shawna finds herself in the center of an escalating war between the Acolytes and the Doma. The lines between friends, family and her enemies begin to blur leaving Shawna to wonder who can she trust as the world around her becomes more dangerous.
