The Wind in the Willows is a children's novel by Kenneth Grahame, first published in 1908. Alternately slow moving and fast-paced, it focuses on four anthropomorphised animals in a pastoral version of Edwardian England. The novel is notable for its mixture of mysticism, adventure, morality and camaraderie, and celebrated for its evocation of the nature of the Thames Valley. One spring day, Mole decides it is finally time to leave his cozy den to explore the outside world. On the riverbank, Mole meets the Water Rat, who introduces him to wise Mr. Badger and boastful Mr. Toad. In the company of his friends, Mole's new life is filled with delicious picnics, exciting boat trips, and adventures in the frightening Wild Wood. When Toad finds himself in trouble, it's up to his friends to save the day. Can Mole, Rat, and Badger rescue Toad from the evil Weasels?
