In a dystopian world a young woman from an upper-class society, Avita, chooses to partner with a man, Stage Six citizen Ryker, whom she has never met. Entering a world that she is completly unfamiliar with she often faces frustrating new realities with each new situation she walks through. Avita questions if her choice was a wise one or rather a desire to try something new. She comes face to face with the desperation that her new community endures and the harsh truth that she had once been part of the weight that holds them down. Learning to love in new ways she finds she has more family then she had ever thought possible. When war breaks out in her city she has to decide between justice and love; a decision which might just break her in the end.
