Allan Rankin has written a surprisingly insightful book on his life during the last half of the twentieth century. During his fifty year career in telecommunications he witnessed many changes that could only be described as revolutionary. He makes no claim to having initiated any change, yet change is what he lived for. And just as well. In the end, it was a revolution that changed everyone, right down to how we communicate, how we live, and even how we think. Throughout the book he intertwines the various technologies with his own changing life. On this stage, he readily admits to many changes of his own making; some good, some bad, and some worse than others. Those beyond his control often treated him more kindly. By following the technology with faith in himself, he has a remarkable story to tell.
