The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, I know. I grew up hearing that. I understand that loss is inevitable, particularly if you're a feeble individual like me. However, there are things I'd rather die than lose, and what I have with Frankie is right at the top of that list. They are the most wonderful person in the world, and the term I've spent living with them has been the happiest time of my life. There's a lot I'll put up with: sickness, exhaustion, penury, ostracism, the constant threat of violence, even the supernatural fuckery that keeps encroaching on our lives. But anyone who tries to get between Frankie and I, gods included, better watch their back.
