People who suffer from mental illness, it's like a continuous storm of thunder, lightning and rain dropping around them, especially in the mind. Trust me when I say it's an uncomfortable feeling. Many people that suffer from one of the diseases, because there are many kinds of diagnoses, don't realize they have one until their symptoms are noticed by the people around them. This is what happened to me. I knew something was wrong, but didn't know how to deal with the problem. I was a young man with goals and dreams, living life, completing college, and holding down two jobs. Like everyone else, I had good childhood memories and plenty that were not so good, and as you can imagine, some bad memories can have a long-lasting effect. As an adult, I faced many challenges. With no one to rely on other than myself, I had no choice but stand on my own feet and hold fast to my faith. I had to learn the hard way my place in this world, and how I fit in it. At least this is what I should have done from the beginning, but instead I turned to addiction. My name is Lance Lewis, and this book is the things that happened before and after I was diagnosed with mental illness. I took the time to write it down because I wanted to help others like me. I wanted to let someone know they're not alone. With my hand in God's, I made it through many bad days. Still and all, I can say that dreams come true if you stop running and chase the storm.
