Dr. Cheryl Snyder was a driven emergency physician when a diagnosis of terminal breast cancer sent her career and her life into a spin. No longer the doctor making quick decisions, she found herself on the patient side of the table, where answers and solutions were slow in coming. Through cycles of hope and heartbreak, confidence and fear, research and disappointment, she found comfort in God and her faith that these struggles would have some purpose.



Her career took a minor detour into teaching at a medical school in Washington State and then a major one that led her to Zambia, Africa. There, she helped establish a preclinical skills lab to provide medical training and Trinity Chaplain College to add spiritual care to the young doctors' skills.



Dr. Snyder augments the story of her dramatic change of circumstances with flashbacks to her earlier life, reflections on Bible passages that became meaningful to her, and guidance to help the reader understand how God may be speaking through the unexpected and unwanted twists and turns of our lives. Her faith-filled memoir will inspire medical professionals, patients facing frightening diagnoses, and all those who feel themselves led to follow an unknown path.
