Miss Mahoolala
Doris a Deneui
Doris (Lindberg) DeNeui was born in 1917. That was 100 years ago. Since then she has been a Pastors wife, Mother of 3, Pianist, Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher, Woman's Rally Song Leader, an Avon Lady and now retired, she reflects on her life and writes books. After her 90th birthday she wrote her first book titled "Ninety One Dollar Bills." It is the story of her life. At her 100th birthday she said, "Don't expect another book." But, here it is, her second book, "Miss Mahoolala - a coloring book." Doris says, "When I was a little girl my mother called me Miss Mahoolala. She would dress me in pink frilly dresses and patent leather shoes." Doris' nephew, Dean E. Lindberg, heard the stories and captured Miss Mahoolala in some cartoon drawings several years ago. This coloring book contains those drawings. Doris grew up in a 2 story house in Duluth Minnesota. The old radiators, the antique tables, the fireplace with its large mirror, the open stairway, the plug-in floor lamps, and the overstuffed furniture are all captured in these drawings. Doris says Miss Mahoolala lives on in her daughter and granddaughters. Perhaps you see her in your family too. Enjoy reminiscing as you color these pages.
