We do not remember the entirety of our life. We only remember fragments. The Boy Who is a composite of cameos, segments of childhood memories; some of the narratives are swathed in tenderness, whilst others are ravaged by life's cruel actuality. Collective childhood memories are interwoven with the storyteller's present adult perception of those days, and past and present realities merge into opportunities for reflection. Traumatic episodes of self-hatred give rise to an acute awareness and appreciation of the frailty of life. As the narrator shares fragmented memories of experienced moments of elation, frustration and disappointment he invites readers to accompany him along his personal narrative and to avail of his reflections as a catalyst for their own journey of self-discovery.
