Max Bakker, a brilliant twelve year old, is devoted to science and expanding his own knowledge. However, he struggles with acceptance into the magical society of Valoor. Like other members in his father's family, Max lacks any magical ability. Max then learns of a secret his family has kept for centuries, putting him on a new path of understanding. He soon sets out on a journey of discovery and acceptance with his cousin Stanley and new friends, Angelica and Nednyl, a centaur.
