A potentially tragic encounter with bandits motivates Eferath to want to follow in his warrior father's footsteps. But it won't be that easy. Eferath joins a prestigious military academy where every day he has to work himself to the bone just to be considered as an equal by his peers. To make matters worse, a slighted member of the royal family has set his sights on him because of the old rivalry the prince had with Eferath's father. But then the unthinkable happens. During Eferath's graduation exercise his patrol group is ambushed and Eferath barely escapes with his life. Suspecting foul play, the young man starts asking questions and soon gets framed for the death of a king. Shortly after, tragedy befalls Eferath the likes of which no one should ever experience. Can Eferath survive the machinations of a member of the royal family, hell-bent on his death? Will he be able to overcome the obstacles no one at his age should ever have to face?
