Alexia's World is about a little girl living with sickle cell disease. She is passionate and full of life. While she is aware of her limitations, she places no limits on herself. She is funny, creative, energetic, bold, authentic, kind and compassionate. Her mom, who also has the disease, is her hero and best friend. Together they form a formidable team. They focus on wellness to control the symptoms of the disease. Alexia and her mom also help other children living with the disease to thrive despite the disease. The book chronicles her journey living with sickle cell disease. She speaks about the ups and downs of her life, including the struggles her family faces navigating the healthcare system and the joy of finding what has helped to improve her health-related quality of life. Alexia now lives relatively symptom free.
