When she fails to find love on the internet, Maria reluctantly introduces Chloe to her husband Tom's best friend Grant with unexpected results.

Grant is a good-looking man with a heart of gold, but his lack of experience with women means he is prone to making hasty decisions, often with disastrous consequences. By the time he realises Chloe isn't the 'happy ever after' kind of woman he was hoping for, she drops a bombshell by telling him she is pregnant with his child, and he naively believes the baby will bring them closer together. He already has a daughter called Crystal from his first marriage to Amberina, and despite his misgivings he still believes in fairy-tale endings and hopes that one day they will be able to sort out their differences. However, Chloe has other ideas, and it isn't long before she is scheming to find ways of getting his other child out of their lives for good.

Meanwhile Maria is having her own problems with her husband Tom, but when a trial separation leads to a life changing discovery about her husband's past she is forced to make a big decision about their future.
