The tale of Mephibosheth in the Old Testament is an exciting story. Set in the days of King David, it has all the elements of a great novel. War, loss, tragic accident, exile, good fortune, revolution and revenge are all part of this adventure story. Mephibosheth, the crippled son of Prince Jonathan, was in the midst of it all. We were not seeking God."... there is none that seeks after God," Romans 3:11(KJV). He was, and is, the initiator. He cut an eternal blood covenant 2000 years ago on a hill called Golgotha. The covenant is between the Father and his eternal son; who became the Son of Man (Jesus) and the representative of fallen man. But the covenant was not only between the Father and Jesus the Son, but with all those in the spiritual loins of Jesus. The covenant is with all those "in Christ". Because of this blood covenant, all the covenant mercies of God - forgiveness, fellowship, healing, deliverance, prosperity, wholeness - flow to us. But because of our false identity - the dead dog image - it is difficult for us to believe and receive his offer. It's too good to be true. Too often, we continue to live out our false identify rather than believing who we truly are.
