Walt Loves the Bearcat West Beach Books

Marcus "Bear" Coleman is a black, gay UCLA cheerleader in the 1980s. To cope with his own personal AIDS crisis, he dreams up a "whole other life" with Walt Yeager, a white quarterback who becomes the first openly gay, superstar athlete of their time.

Or ... is it the other way around?

Famous football player Walt Yeager's male cheerleader husband dreams up a "whole other life" where the two never met, and Marcus must deal with HIV/AIDS - and his own personal demons - alone.

An epic, adventure-filled odyssey where serious issues like homophobia in sports, living with HIV, and race relations in America exist right alongside fantastical characters like Hail Larry, Evil Announcer Guy, and the Emergency Wife. Your ticket is your imagination.
