This book is a tool, and a resource, for those whose ministry is to read lessons in church. Following the Common Lectionary, it provides a short introduction to each set reading, to give the listening congregation some brief information before the reading itself. An introduction is provided here for every Bible reading of the Sundays and major Holy Days in the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL), and the Common Worship Lectionary (CWL). The material offered covers such things as the context of a reading, its relationships to other readings (on the same or other Sundays), and a brief indication as to what the reading is `about'.
