For most of us love is wonderful, beautiful and exciting. But what happens when it all falls apart? Was it just a dream? How could you let yourself become so dependent on another? How quickly you realise that love and hate are two sides of the same coin! These poems explore this paradox. Love turns out to be a two-faced god, a mixed blessing, a dangerous road, a leaky convertible, a cloudy sky, a night with no rest, a rusty needle, a badly framed picture, a box of rain. . . From the deep sensuality of Whisper To Me, to the dreamy narcosis of Snowflake and the bittersweet regret of Heart-shaped Chocolates ('I hate love/ I hate it for not having it'), this collection records the whole gamut of romantic attachment, from exultation to withdrawal to detoxification. But one thing the poet is sure of about love: it's a feeling we need to travel with through this life. And few would disagree. Jacques Theart was born in a small Karoo town called Beaufort -West, South Africa. After he finished school he went to America where he fell in love with traveling. Jacques has been living in the UK for the past three years but still considers South Africa as his home and the best place in the world.
