Louise, Sarah and Maria are grieving the loss of their mother. Sarah, a flight attendant, uses her busy schedule to hide her abusive marriage from her sisters. Confused by her husband's contempt towards her grief she struggles to maintain her denial. In the wake of her mother's death her husband has dropped his facade and she is faced with a choice she never imagined. Louise, happily married, is feeling the strain of her twin boys boisterous antics. Worried she's failing, and resentful of her seemingly absent sisters, she craves her mother's perspective. As a motherless mother she has to find her own resolve and advocate for her son. Maria, career focused, is living the American dream. Now, Florida doesn't seem so sweet as the pain from home lingers. As she frets about her sisters back in England, her blossoming new romance is threatened. When she has the chance to work back in London it's not whether she will go, but if she will come back. As the three sisters flounder, their dearly departed mother watches on from the spirit world. Using her energy to guide and protect them, they sense her encouragement to live without her. If they can do that, they can do anything.
