As the number of pleasure craft on our rivers continues to increase, it is inevitable that more boaters are beginning to cruise longer distances. And why not? With the improved locking systems and the proliferation of recreational facilities along our rivers, it has become very appealing to shove off in the family boat for a leisurely vacation on America's own beautiful waterways. In "Down the Rivers on a Chainsaw," I have included both the humorous and the unfortunate events that occurred during my own cruises down the Monongahela, Ohio, Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers and the Tenn-Tom Waterway. No effort has been made to hide the embarrassing mistakes that plagued us or to change the names of the people or places mentioned in this book.
