Emily is a 6th grader starting a new school. She faces the challenges many middle school students face. Emily wishes her mother understood her better, but she learns that it is just as important to learn about her mother and her past. Many of the things Emily experiences are taken from real life experiences of the author. The story takes a twist when Emily finds herself back in 1964. Many life lessons are learned along the way as Emily realizes how important family is.
