Cora Green is a prime example of a woman who went straight from living with and being dependent on her mother, to living and being dependent on her husband. However, it is more than just her being financially supported by others that makes her lack some independence; it's the fact that she depends on others to define who she is as a women, and more importantly as a person, and a human being. Nevertheless, that all changes when she meets Richard Peterson. Richard is a flamboyant, very "tell it like it is" homosexual. When Cora's husband George decides that he is no longer happy in the marriage and wants a divorce, it is Cora's new found and true friendship with Richard that changes her life forever!
