Matthew 'Matt' Walker became an orphan at the age of twelve and went to live with his paternal Grandparents. His life was not one of being pampered, but being of Cherokee Blood, he was taught many of the old ways and learned how to be self-sufficient as he grew older in rural Oklahoma. This is the story of Matthew's life. His loves, his heartaches, and his service to his country. The friends he made, and the friends he lost. And the demons he fought and lived with. It spans the decades starting in the 1960's, on into the new century. This story is the years leading up to, or it can be called the Prequel to the novel; 'The Path Home'.
