Mama used to say she could read the stars. We used to sit on the porch swing at night. I'd snuggle into her side, and she'd look up and read the future. Dawn Williams knows exactly who she is supposed to be with. She's known it since she met the man five years ago. And if the man didn't have such a conscience on him, she'd be married and working on kid number three by now. Trucker Harper had to have enough of a conscience for both of them when the sixteen-year-old came into his twenty-five-year-old life. He resisted her until she finished high school, then breathed a sigh of relief when she went off to college. Now she's back, and he's ready to play. The problem is, now she has a boyfriend. The real problem is that Mama said Dawn was destined to be his wife. Now he has to figure out how to go about pursuing a woman he'd rejected for years, while she dates some other guy who seems nothing but perfect for her.
