When I Grow Up
MacKenzie Lynn Cox
As a child, we all had ideas of what we wanted to do when we got older- some of us wanted more realistic jobs, like firefighters, ballerinas, or doctors, and some of us were more insistent on unrealistic goals, like becoming princesses or dragons. However, we eventually got older, and we've chosen the paths that our parents, friends, and mentors encouraged. This book encourages children to follow their dreams, no matter how impossible or crazy they seem and it starts with a bear named Baxter wanting to become an owl.
Mackenzie Cox, age 15, was born in Calgary, Alberta, and has lived in the City of Airdrie for the majority of her life. She's been drawing as long as she could hold a pencil, but that isn't her only interest. Mackenzie loves children, and because of that, has set her mind on becoming a elementary school teacher. Currently, Mackenzie is a grade 10 student, and is on the road to success that begins with her first book, "When I Grow Up."
