Phyllis Williams-Strawder was the business behind Bigmista's Barbecue. She was the driving force that turned her husband's high school moniker into a nationally recognized brand. Bigmista, himself appeared in Season 2 of Barbecue Pitmasters and a nationaln Arby's commercial. He had recurring appearances on Good Day LA.and was even approached to do his own show. They built the Bigmista brand to stand for food, family and fun. This came easy for them because it was from an authentic place. By allowing their true nature to shine they turned their barbecue stand at the Watts Farmers Market into two restaurants and a highly sought after bbq catering company. It never mattered if they were catering for studio heads or pig candy fanatics, their brand stayed true. Phyllis left the food industry to further her career as a Certified Business Coach and Brand Strategist. She focuses on helping foodpreneurs launch authentic brands so they can "Drop it like it's hot." For her authentic branding is not about being who your customer wants you to be. Authentic branding is about being yourself and making it marketable. Phyllis created this guidebook at the request of one of her clients who suffered from ADD. He needed something visual to coincide with their sessions. In it you will find the tools to understand and develop your authentic brand. It begins with an assessment to gauge your entrepreneurial mindset and ends with making sure you have brand congruency. There are no complicated formulas or long drawn out exercises to bore you. All you need is the ability to have an honest conversation with yourself and a willingness to flaunt your gifts.
