With no-one to look after Tom during the holidays, his parents reluctantly fall back on Great Aunt Ermintrude. Great Aunt Ermintrude has hens, guinea pigs and a very large pig. She also keeps an allegedly vegetarian tiger behind the pig pen, though she prefers to keep that quiet. Messy, eccentric and inventive, Great Aunt Ermintrude enjoys life to the full and she expects Tom to do the same, so he does.
