After Eli finds a strange egg in the refrigerator, his life is no longer lonely. Or boring! Ever since his family's move, Twelve-year-old Eli Drache desperately longs for something to do and someone to do it with. Things suddenly look up when he unearths a furry, green egg in his refrigerator. He creates a make-shift incubator in his room and hides it from his parents who will certainly make him get rid of something that looks this far past its "sell-by" date. After all the care he's provided, when it hatches, the creature from the egg thanks Eli by thrusting him into a parallel universe. Will he ever see his family again?
