Tortured by the bitter memory of her brusque response to her young son 's loving gesture during a marriage crisis twenty years in the past, Merryl relives her pain over a twenty-four hour journey back through the intervening years of trauma, 1967 to 1987, searching for the love she so cruelly threw away.
