When Steve Sanders, an insurance adjuster, arrives at Grant House to evaluate the damage caused by a fire, he falls, threatening to sue Gi-Gi for negligence. While recovering from his accident he meets a fate worse than a sprained ankle. Someone hates the man enough to murder him. The death of the insurance adjuster removes the pressure of the lawsuit but creates other problems: the strain of additional residents, a civil suit for wrongful death, a food paranoia, a family attorney who has the plaintiff's interests at heart, an out of control poker game, and the prospect of the murderer living in the house. There's no shortage of suspects including the four financially dependent widows (past, present, and future), the poker players, the victim's own mother, and of course, Gi-Gi.
