The five deadliest shootings in U. S. history have occurred in the last 11 years. The targets are innocent people ranging from very young children in schools to adults in the workplace and at social gatherings. Although the number of incidents has fluctuated each year, overall there is an increasing trend in both active shooter incidents and the casualties they cause. We must accept as a society that we are not doing enough to stop this violence and consider all possibilities to protect our families. No matter when American society comes to an agreement on gun policy, many guns will exist for a long time in the United States. Therefore, along with the immediate need to detect and prevent active shooters, there will continue to be a need for a solution to protect innocent people against a mass shooter. The intent of this work is not to detail the components of a solution, but rather to provide a realistic Architectural design of a protective solution, that utilizes the power of Artificial Intelligence Facial Recognition.
