Me and Alkali Ike, the adventures of a mountain man and a young boy in the Idaho/Montana Wilderness.
"Who is that strange character you brought home, Dad? He looks like he came straight out of the woods." The next thing the boy knows, instead of school and home, he is off to the wilderness with this rugged mountain man as his guardian. His mom passed away years before and his dad is suddenly called away to service, so for the next two years the boy and Alkali Ike make their own living at Alkali's mountain cabin. The boy is schooled by Alkali in life and all that nature can give in the beautiful and dangerous wilds of the Idaho/Montana mountains. Their friendly competition of who can catch the most fish brings them unexpected adventures. Accompanied by Alkali's beloved dog Old Blue, they are challenged by a life-threatening snowstorm and other perils. The bond between the boy and Alkali becomes strong as they must rely on each other for survival. This is a family friendly, heartwarming tale of friendship in the wilderness, and a story truly enjoyable for all ages.
