Barry Malone was sitting in Carson's Cafe, minding his own business. Nearby was a couple, arguing about something. The man got up and stormed out of the cafe, leaving the girl crying. Barry was observing this. The girl came over to Barry's table seeking some comfort. Barry did comfort her, but he didn't realize what he was getting himself into. A murder was committed in a nearby bar, and the girl's boyfriend was the chief suspect. If Barry continued to help this girl, he faced certain danger, and perhaps lose his long-time fiance.
