It raises awareness of not only health issues associated with the opioid epidemic, but also the emotional toll addiction issues have on immediate family and friends. So many people are affected in some way by this crisis. Although this is a tragic situation, there is so much shame associated with addiction. Sadly, these human beings lose their individual identity and become part of a nameless, faceless group. They are referred to as just another addict by so many. We should talk about it, tell the stories and bring back the humanity.
