Brazil is one of the world's largest and most diverse nations and has a vivacious culture that celebrates its rich heritage while working toward an ideal future. Larger than the continental United States and spanning three different time zones, the land itself features natural attractions for all kinds of adventurers, including jungles, mountains, beaches, and waterfalls. Their festivals and celebrations are famous for their beauty and energy, drawing crowds from around the world. At any given time and place, Brazil teems with life and exuberance, ensuring its place as a memorable destination for any traveler. Because Brazil is so large, the country includes several climate variations. However, none of them are extreme enough to make it worth avoiding any particular areas at a given time, and only the central highlands in the southern state of Santa Catarina get snow. The southern region, including Sao Paulo, does have a distinct winter from June to September, although temperatures rarely hit freezing, even at night. Conversely, the northern interior can experience some pretty extreme temperatures, at times climbing up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. However, most of the population (and key destinations) are coastal, enjoying a warm tropical climate. It's best to visit the rainforest in either May or June, right between the rainy months of February to April and the hotter, drier months of September to November. While hiking trails are more accessible during the drier months, more animals and lush vegetation can be spotted during the high water months. Another consideration when choosing a time to visit Brazil is considering what celebrations may be happening. Brazil is famous for its festivities, and there are plenty of significant ones to choose from in order to experience a real party. The dazzling costumes and lively music of carnival have made Brazil a premier destination, with many cities hosting spectacular parades. New Year's Reveillon is another world famous party. The diversity of Brazil is also celebrated in a number of ways. Blumenau's Oktoberfest is the largest outside of Germany, while the nationwide festival of Bumba Meu Boi blends indigenous, African, and Portuguese folklore. While these may be some of the more significant celebrations, there are always concerts, festivals, and other celebrations of life springing up throughout Brazil at any given time.
