Eighth grade should be great. The last year before high school. On the first day back from summer vacation Tina learns she needs to come up with $900 for the end-of-the-year trip to Chicago. Maybe that's fine for the other kids, but Tina's mom lost her job months ago. And her dad? She had never gotten around to asking who he might be, so no help there.
