A story of life as a young cadet, back in a time when a good supply of smokes and adult magazines were just as important as a clean pair of boots! Life under the instructors could be hard and frightening, but the sense of adventure was never too far away, especially for us boys from the estate, whose adventures and fights over the local common had prepared us for anything the army could throw at us, or so we thought. This is the tale of how the ministry of defence took a rag bag collection of grubby, half wild boys and turned them into proud cadets and wannabe soldiers.
