Eighteen-year-old Clementine is one of the last magicists, researchers who study how to detect spells using purely scientific technology. Her biggest problems are scraping together research funding and making sure that she gets more credit than her rival Diane - until she discovers that magic may still exist on remote Jade Island. All of a sudden, Clementine and Diane find themselves thrown together on a mission to track down these new spells and the people creating them.
