Everyday, kids lose loved ones to death, and in the past, there weren't many options to help a young person deal with their grief, or help them to move beyond the stages of grief and on with life. My career in the death care profession was frustrating, trying to get funeral personnel to learn to include the younger set in making arrangements, or asking the other family member adults to include them in the decisions. I lost my Dad, when I was 15 years old to a tragic boating accident; so this writing comes from personal as well as professional experience and direction.
